Patient, widescreen drama with a cinematographer's eye for weather

Portrait of Mara Okonkwo

Theo Lindqvist spent fifteen years as a cinematographer on Scandinavian drama before moving to the other side of the monitor. He still thinks in light and weather first, and his films tend to be patient, widescreen and quietly funny, with performances given room to breathe.

His short Southbound, a road movie about a retired couple crossing Arizona, was an Official Selection at Northlight Film Festival and won Best Direction at Harbourside Shorts. Alongside his narrative work he directs commercials for car, travel and outdoor brands, and divides his time between Stockholm and London.
